Mrs Welbourne (Phase Leader)
The 14th-18th November was Anti-bullying week. The children learnt about bullying and how to be a good friend.
Year 1 and 2 created some fantastic pieces of work which made this brilliant display.
This term children will be learning all about towers and castles. They will look at the features of castles, historical castles and stories with towers in them. They will have the opportunity to design and make their own winding mechanisms in their DT unit.
In this unit, we will be learning about the importance of Pentecost. Children will be able to retell the story of how the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples, and they used their gifts to spread the word of God.
Children will be learning about the life cycle of plants and animals. They will learn about the important things a plant needs to grow, and will have the opportunity to carry out an investigation by planting and growing their own flowers. Children will also learn about the different parts of a plant and how these parts function in the life of a plant. We will also look at humans, eating healthy and exercise.

Please note- there is a new set of ideas in your child's book linked to our new topic 'Towers, Tunnels and Turrets'. If you have any other creative ideas, we would love to see them . Be as creative as you wish! We would love to see some crafts, projects or home made castles being brought in to school.
Children will be thinking about the importance of being loving to one another. They are taught about Jesus' teaching about the greatest commandment being to 'Love your God', and the second greatest commandment being to 'love thy neighbour'. They think about the important people in their own life whom they love, and how they can show love to others each day.
Children also think about how they can be compassionate to others by showing concern to one another. This can be as simple as checking that others are okay, caring about one anothers feelings, or showing kindness to their peers.
