European Day of Languages

European Day of Languages 2020

On Friday 25th September, St. Anne’s celebrated European Day of Languages in school. The European Day of Languages (EDL) is celebrated across Europe on the 26th of September every year. It aims to promote the rich linguistic diversity of Europe and raise awareness of the importance of lifelong language learning for everyone. It was set up by the Council of Europe and was first celebrated in 2001.

In classes we explored why it is important to learn a language and explored some of the many different ways we could say “hello!”. It was a wonderful opportunity for some of our EAL children to become ‘mini teachers’ and share with their peers how to say hello in their language.

Harry Potter Live Stream

During the afternoon, we all took part in a live stream as part of ‘Lingo tot’s Online Festival’. We were given the opportunity to learn some brand new vocabulary and some fantastic phrases linked to Harry Potter.
