Does your child enjoy reading a particular author? As adults, we often have a preferred genre e.g. science fiction/ adventure/ mystery/ biographies etc.
Whilst it is important for young children to experience a variety of authors and genres, it is also important to follow their personal interests and recommend books which they will most likely enjoy.

Please be reminded that we have a wonderful library on our doorstep. Children should be encouraged to make their own book choices and as a discerning reader, have the opportunity to reject a book that they are not enjoying or to seek more titles for ones they particularly enjoy. Having access to a library with free access to books really supports this element of selection, with no financial implications for families.
